26 more deaths, 1,052 further cases in North

THE Department of Health has announced a further 1.052 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a rise of 82 cases on the previous day.

There have been a further 26 deaths (five outside the current reporting period) from the deadly virus bringing the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, to 1,559.

Sadly, two of those deaths have been recorded in the Derry and Strabane District Council area.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 7,590 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 41 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a fall of five on figures for Wednesday.

Within the past week there have been a further 396 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strbane area.

That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 10,261 positive cases within the council boundary.

The Department has now recorded a total of 110 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 97 per cent.

There are currently 840 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 63 patients currently in intensive care and 47 patients who are on ventilators.

A total of 139 care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 454 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
