SDLP Councillor Brian Tierney has welcomed an £200,000 investment in green infrastructure in Derry, as Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon has approved a LED street lighting scheme for Moss Park.

Said Councillor Tierney: “This is great news for Derry. We are finally seeing investment at the scale needed to make a difference. This welcome investment provides new LED technology along Moss Park.

“This will improve the quality of lighting but is also more energy efficient, reflecting Minister Mallon’s commitment to climate action.

“This investment underscores the SDLP commitment to regionally balanced infrastructure and I’m delighted that SDLP Minister Mallon has made our community a priority.

“There will be some disruption for the next few weeks as work is underway but the Department has provided assurances that this will be managed as much as possible so that people can get where they need to go.”
