Mullan: Urgent need to fix Foyle Road flooding

Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Karen Mullan

THE Department of Infrastructure must put measures in place to finally resolve repeated flood problems in the Foyle Road area of the city, Sinn Féin’s Mullan has said.

The Foyle MLA said: “Myself and local Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue will meet with the Department for Infrastructure in the coming days to discuss ongoing flooding issues in the Foyle Road area of Derry

“Repeated flooding incidents have occurred in the area for a number of years and the issues have never been properly resolved.

“There have been nine flooding incidents since 2018 alone so it is clear that remedial measures are badly needed.

“I raised the issue directly with the minister who has now provided an update on the planned investment and instructed her officials to attend the site meeting in the coming days so that the concerns of residents can be addressed.

“Myself and Patricia Logue will be meeting the local section engineer to raise the concerns and urge him to produce a timescaled plan of work to finally resolve these problems as quickly as possible.”
