Anderson pushes for progress on Ebrington site

SINN Féin’s Martina Anderson has welcomed her recent engagements with representatives from the Historic Environment Division (HED) of the Environment Agency regarding the further development of the Ebrington estate.

The Foyle MLA said she was hopeful her discussions would lead to a new tenant being secured for one of the listed buildings within the site.

Said Martina Anderson: “During a recent visit to Ebrington I was made aware of an issue with ‘Building 40’ where a prospective tenant plans to develop a new bar/restaurant.

“Until now there have been delays in securing planning consent due to concerns from the HED which deals with planning applications regarding listed and historical buildings.

“I have spoken with the HED and am pleased that discussions will now take place with the Planning Service and the proposed tenant with a view to resolving any planning concerns as quickly as possible.

“I will continue to work with HED and other stakeholders to ensure that any remaining tenancy agreements for all the buildings within Ebrington are completed without undue delay to ensure the economic potential of the entire site is maximized for the people of Derry in the coming years.”
