Relatives left upset as graves and ornaments vandalised at City Cemetery – Logue

Sinn Fein Councillor Patricia Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has said relatives of loved ones have been left upset over vandalism in the new section of the City Cemetery which overlooks the Lonemoor Road.

Said Cllr Logue: “Sadly, this is not the first occasion in recent times that graves in the new section of the lower part of the City Cemetery have been targeted.

“As well as graves being attacked a car was burned out there just a few years ago.

“There has been damage to a number of holy ornaments, flowerpots and other bits and pieces that families had placed on their loved one’s graves.

“Since news of this vandalism has emerged, I have spoken to a number of people who have relatives buried in this section and they have been left very upset by all this.

“I would once again appeal for these senseless actions to stop and if anyone knows the culprits to contact the police.”
