Coronavirus: Eight new COVID-19 cases in North but no further deaths

THERE have been eight new confirmed cases of Coronavirus according to the Department of Health’s latest update.

This now brings the total number of confirmed positive cases in the North of Ireland to 6,225.

None of the new positive cases took place in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area which has nad four positive cases in the last week.

There have been no COVID-19 related deaths recorded by the Department of Health in the past 24 hours, which means its death toll remains at 557.

The department’s daily figures are mostly comprised of hospital deaths, where a patient had previously tested positive for the virus.

There have been 29 deaths with in the Derry and Strabane council boundary since the pandemic erupted in March this year.

The NI Statistics and Research Agency will tomorrow release its data on death from Coronavirus in all settings up to Friday, August 7.
