Hopeful solution to prevent inconsiderate parking in Northland estate – Cooper

SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that the Department for Infrastructure is introducing double lines at a busy junction in the Northland Estate.

The area has been blighted by inconsiderate parking and which has caused a number of issues for residents and delivery vehicles.

Said Cllr Cooper: “There have been long running problems in the Northland Estate around the issue of motorists parking at a number of busy junctions.

“This has caused problems for residents exiting their homes ,cars being parked right on the junction obscuring traffic, Emergency Services and large delivery vans not being able to get through the parked cars and turning at very tight junctions.

“I have been in discussions with the Department for Infrastructure about what is the best way to resolve these issues.

“They believe the best way forward is to add double yellow lines along Northland Way from the junction of Northland Crescent for approximately 40m.

“And that it would be beneficial to add double yellow lines to the corner of Northland Way but stop the double yellows short of local homes to allow the owners to park outside their properties.

“If any resident needs any more details on this please feel free to contact me on 07743 175 709.”
