Coronavirus: Leisure centres reopen, but pools stay closed

LEISURE centres across the North of Ireland are allowed to reopen today, Friday, July 17.

But like other councils, Derry City and Strabane District Council’s public pools will remain closed for now until there is a further decision by the Stormont Executive.

The gradual return of indoor exercise facilities follows the reopening of training facilities for elite athletes on June 29.

And the reopening of gyms to the general public on July 10.

Reopened leisure centres will have to adhere to social distancing rules and customers may have to adjust to some changes.

It could be several more weeks before public pools are reopened once more to swimmers.
