Coronavirus: Derry tattoo artist is ‘100% ready to reopen’

THE Stormont Executive has yet to give a clear date here for when tattoo studios can reopen.

Like gyms and bookie shops, tattoo artists have been left in the dark over a reopening date.

A Derry tattoo artist says he can’t understand why there is no clarity as to when they might reopen.

Even before the pandemic, Glenn Rosborough said tattoo studios are “one of the most sterile environments that you would ever be in”.

His place of work is “100% ready to reopen”.

“We’ve used all our time in lockdown to educate ourselves and make sure we can provide an even safer and better environment for our clients,” he told BBC Radio Foyle.

There’s enough space to ensure social distancing and further measures are in place to ensure the safety of clients, including additional personal protective equipment, Glenn added.

“Already we are well versed in PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).

“We know about cross-contamination and we know about containing infections already – that was our normal practice.

“We don’t understand why we are being held back,” he said.
