Coronavirus: The Richmond Centre to reopen next Monday

THE RICHMOND Centre in Derry has announced that it will reopen to the public next Monday, June 15, at 9 am.

Like other shopping centre, The Richmond Centre has been shut since March because of the lockdown restrictions introduced over the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement on its Facebook page, The Richardmond Centre says: “In line with government Coronavirus guidance The Richmond Shopping Centre is welcoming the reopening of some of our stores from Monday 15th June.

“Due to the short notice provided to our tenants, and many of their staff on furlough, some will be open on Monday, whereas others will take a little longer before they open, as they prepare their stores and staff for the ‘new normal’ and undergo practices to keep staff and customers safe, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

“The health and safety of customers and employees continues to be the top priority and Richmond has introduced enhanced measures to keep our customers safe, with increased deep cleaning of key areas and touchpoints like escalators, toilets and buttons.

“The Richmond Centre will also have hand sanitiser stations present throughout the centre at entrances and exits, at the public toilets and signage to ensure visitors stay socially distanced including a one way ‘keep left’ system.

“You may find that some of your favourite kiosks have temporarily ‘moved’, to make sure social distancing is adhered to especially on Level 3 of the centre.

“These stores have been relocated and will still be able to provide you with top quality service in a safe environment.

“The Richmond Centre will also be utilising its in centre people counting system monitoring the number of shoppers in the Centre at any given time.

“There will also be new ‘queuing etiquette’ outside of stores, and a limitation on how many customers are allowed into each store and the centre, at any one time.

“This is a new and uncertain time for staff, tenants and customers, as we adapt to a new shopping experience.

“We would be grateful if all customers could show patience and understanding as we learn and grow as we implement measures to keep everyone safe while still receiving great customer service.

“Please keep an eye on our social media where will update regularly the reopening of our stores over the next few weeks.

“We can’t wait to see you all back at the Richmond Centre very soon!”
