Sinn Fein Councillor Patricia Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has warned people across the city to a take few extra home security measures during the current spell of good weather to thwart opportunist break-ins and thefts.

Said Cllr Logue: “The current spell of good weather has led to a lot more people leaving the windows and doors open in their homes due to the heat.

“Sadly, there are those out there in our society who will use this as an opportunity to gain entry to people’s homes and steal basically what they can get their hands on in a short space of time”

“During spells of good weather, we always see an increase in the theft of bikes, garden furniture, tools and machinery.

“I would appeal to people if they are leaving their home for even a short space of time that they always lock the windows and doors.

“And if they have valuable garden tools and machinery that they are securely locked up at night.”
