Coronavirus: Four more people in North lose their lives to COVID-19 as toll hits 473

THERE have been a further four coronavirus-related deaths in Northern Ireland, according to the Department of Health.

Its total now stands at 473, which are mainly focused on hospital deaths.

Three of the deaths happened in the last 24 hours.

Today’s update from the Department of Health shows there have now been 46,738 completed tests carried out in Northern Ireland.

A total of 4,357 have tested positive for Covid-19.

Yesterday, it was reported by the department that there had been more than 45,241 tests carried out in Northern Ireland, with a total of 4,317 people having tested positive for Covid-19.

On Friday, the NI Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) published figures showing that 599 deaths had been recorded, up to Frday, May 8, in total.

Nisra figures record all deaths where COVID-19 is mentioned on a death certificate which includes care homes, hospices and residential addresses.

There have been 20 confirmed deaths from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.

Figures also show there have been 162 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the council area.
