Coronavirus: Two more people in North lose their lives to COVID-19 as toll hits 449

THE Department of Health have announced a further two deaths related to Covid-19 in North of Ireland.

It takes the, mostly comprising of hospital deaths, to 449.

One of the deaths happened since Tuesday, while the other occurred earlier but has now been added to the Department of Health figures.

These figures are one of two sets of Covid-19 published here.

Each Friday, statistics agency Nisra publishes its weekly update which covers all fatalities where Covid-19 is mentioned on death certificates.

As of Friday, May 1, Nisra had recorded 516 Covid-19 related deaths here in hospitals, care homes, hospices and residential addresses.

The DoH statistics show that there have been 20 confirmed deaths from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area since the pandemic started.

The council district now has 162 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Across the North of Ireland, there have now been 4,253 confirmed Coronavirus cases – up 60 on Tuesday.
