Coronavirus: 14 more people in North lose their lives to Covid-19 as toll hits 418

THE DEPARTMENT of Health say on Tuesday that there have been a further 14 deaths related to Covid-19.

This takes their total, mostly comprising of hospital deaths, to 418.

Three of the deaths happened since Tuesday.

These figures are one of two sets published in the North of Ireland.

The other are weekly statistics from statistics agency Nisra, which cover all fatalities where coronavirus has been recorded on the death certificate.

By Friday, April 24, Nisra had recorded 393 Covid-19 related deaths here.

Nisra will report this Friday on deaths up to Friday, May 1 and is expected to show that a lot more people have sadly lost their lives to the deadly virus, particularly in care homes, hospices and residential addresses.

In the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, there have been 20 confirmed deaths so far and a total of 155 people have tested for Coronavirus.

There are now 24 people being treated in intensive care in the North of Ireland with confirmed or suspected cases of Covid-19, according to the latest statistics from the Department of Health.

There are 699 inpatients across 19 hospital with confirmed or suspected Covid-19.

A total of 4,827 people have been admitted to hospital since the pandemic began and 4,128 have been discharged.

A total of 3,934 people have tested positive for the virus across the 11 council districts.
