SINN Féin’s Martina Anderson has hailed the level of community response in Derry to help those who have been left isolated by the Coronavirus outbreak.
She was speaking after she visited this week the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership with Councillor Aileen Mellon where the Ballyarnett Community Support Team are getting prepared to carry out their vital work throughout the greater Shantallow area.
Said the Foyle: “This sterling team of community volunteers and staff are working to protect our most vulnerable in society.
“They are providing packages for older members of the community and isolated residents due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
“The volunteers and staff all take measures to ensure social distancing, high hygiene practices and ensure there is no face to face contact with vulnerable residents.
“This is a strong demonstration of community unity.
“Keep up the good work and keep safe.”
