Coronavirus: Owen Mor home confirms residents test positive for COVID-19

Six residents at Owen Mor home in Derry test positive Coronavirus

A nursing home in Derry says six of its residents have tested positive for Coronavirus.

In a statement Owen Mor Care Centre on the city’s Culmore Road, say the six residents in one of the home’s nursing units, tested positive on Friday, March 27.

All residents in the unit now “are being isolated supported by staff,” the home says.

Staff and other residents families have also been notified, Owen Mor say.

“Observations have been in place for early detection of signs and swift action was taken to notify GPs, PHA, WHSCT and RQIA,” the home said in its statement.

“We are treating the situation with utmost seriousness and strict infection prevention and control measures are in place.”

The home’s statement added: “We appreciate that this is a very worrying time for families.

“We wish to reassure them that our staff are committed to their loved ones and we are doing everything that we possibly can.”
