DETECTIVES are appealing for information following the report of an aggravated burglary at a house in Co Derry on St Patrick’s night

The brutal assault happened in the Ashgrove Park in Magherafelt on Tuesday, March 17.

Detective Sergeant Paula McGale said: “It was reported that a group of up to seven armed and masked males forced entry to the house at around 9:20 pm on Tuesday evening.

“They assaulted the male occupant with hammers and knives. The occupant was taken to hospital for his injuries where he remains this morning. His injuries are not life threatening.

The males left the scene by getting into a shiny, dark coloured BMW following the attack.”

“We are seeking to trace the movements and owner of this vehicle.

“I am appealing to anyone with any information to contact detectives at Cookstown CID on 101 quoting reference number 1477 of 17/03/20.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
