THE PSNI in Derry are advising the public to head public health warnings over the spread of Coronavirus at large public gatherings as St Patrick’s Day approaches this week.

Derry City and Strabane District Council has already cancelled St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Derry city and Strabane over the potential spread of Coronavirus at such large public gatherings.

A Foyle police spokesperson said: “Ahead of St Patrick’s Day we are asking everyone to be attentive to the advice from @publichealthagency and Government about COVID-19.

“We all have a responsibility to safeguard ourselves and each other and support our government in their efforts to keep the people of Northern Ireland safe.

“Before you make any plans, ask yourself if you are increasing the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19, especially to the more vulnerable in our society.
