SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin

SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin has appointed financial journalist and economics commentator Paul Gosling as her parliamentary advisor and policy officer.

The Vice Chair of the Assembly Economy Committee said that her primary goal is to enhance regional economic balance and bring new investment opportunities to the North West.

Speaking after making the appointment, Sinead McLaughlin MLA said: “I’m delighted to be appointing Paul Gosling as a Parliamentary Advisor today.

“Paul is well known as a financial journalist and economics commentator with a passion for the North West.

“Importantly, he was also the co-ordinator of the University for Derry group – which aligns with my own focus for the north west.

“His appointment is a sign of my commitment to deliver regional economic balance and bring new investment opportunities to Derry.

“I’m looking forward to getting started on that work and look forward to engaging with the business community in my role as Foyle MLA and Vice Chair of the Stormont Economy Committee.

“Already I’ve pressed the Economy Minister on the need for movement on the expansion of Magee as a key economic driver.

“Paul will bring new ideas and a depth of experience to that work in the time ahead.

“The North West is an untapped resource that I am determined to develop, delivering new opportunities for everyone who lives here.”
