Two arrested in cross-border operation into paramilitary style attacks

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit conducted a number of searches in the Strabane area this morning.

It was part of a cross border operation investigating Paramilitary Style Attacks.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “As a result a 32 year old male has been arrested under the Terrorism Act.

“He is currently being held in Musgrave Serious Crime suite.

“Our colleagues in An Garda Siochana have also arrested one male in relation to this operation.”

Update: Gardai this evening say that as part of the operation that a man in his mid 30s was arrested in the East Donegal area.

A spokesperson said: “He is currently being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 30 – Offences Against The State Act 1939.

“This relates to an incident that occurred in East Donegal in November 2019.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
