Police probe after car deliberately set on fire in Derry

POLICE are investigating after a car was deliberately set on fire near homes in Derry in the early hours of this morning.

It was report that the car, possibly a Seat Leon, was torched around 00.40 am on Saturday, January 4.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Mickey Cooper tweeted about the incident: “Folks I have visited the scene of the car which was burnt out at Glenview Avenue.

“I am liasing with residents and police to deal with aftermath.

“The car was burnt at 12.40 am this morning.

“If you have any info please contact police or myself.”

Police can be contacted on the 101 number.

Or, alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.
