DERRY City and Strabane Learning City is running an exciting new festival in May 2020 which will celebrate all types of learning across the city and region.

In July 2019 Derry City and Strabane became a member of UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities.

This programme promotes lifelong learning to all citizens, across all sectors, communities and all ages.

A council spokesperson said: “The festival aims to make learning accessible to all citizens and this is an opportunity to showcase all the amazing learning activities/events happening across the city and region.

“We are inviting community groups, individuals, workplaces, schools and colleges across the city and region to host a learning event during the festival.

“Any event/activity you wish to run must be FREE and open to ALL citizens.

“Your event can be any type of event including performances, taster sessions, tours, displays, lectures, walks, demonstrations and workshops as long as there is an element of learning attached to the event.

“It can be on any subject ranging from digital skills, parenting, children’s activities, family events, business, science, art, history, health or sport.

“Your event can take place indoors or outdoors, including on water, in libraries, museums, colleges, resource centres, community centres, parks or in your street.

“We want the Derry City and Strabane Lifelong Learning Festival to offer learning for everyone, wherever you live, whatever your age and whatever your interests.

“We want there to be something for everyone.

“If you would like to run an event/activity during the festival, please complete the Events Template form with your event(s)’ details.”

Dates of the Lifelong Learning Festival: 18-24 May 2020
