Police out across the Derry district today checking drivers’ cars are legal for the roads

THE PSNI say officers across are out in force today checking to make sure that drivers’ cars are legal for the roads.

But unfortunate for some, they have had their cars seized and have ended up penalty points on their licence.

PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page:

“No insurance? No problem!

“We will happily take all uninsured vehicles off your hands, we will even keep hold of them in a secure location for a fee.

“Folks. The message isn’t getting through to some people.

“You have to have insurance on your vehicle to use it on our roads.

“Too many of us know the frustration of being in an accident with an uninsured driver.

“This isn’t a stats game.

“It isn’t a money game.

“It’s the law.

“Today all across the district response officers have been conducting vehicle check points at random to make sure everyone is legal.

“Unfortunately there were a number of vehicles seized with fines being issued and points put on licenses.

“It isn’t worth it.

“Please treat the roads with respect and we will have no problems.”
