British Prime Minister Boris Johnson steps off military plane at Heathrow to face the music from MPs

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MLA has urged opposition leaders at Westminster to table a motion of no confidence in disgraced Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled by a majority 11-0 verdict that Johnson had acted unlawfully by suspending Parliament for five weeks without reason.

The British Prime Minister has faced calls from opposition politicians to quit of the Supreme Court ruling.

Parliament will resume today, Wednesday, September 25, will Johnson flying back from New this morning to face the music from MPs.

Johnson is expected to address MPs in the House of Commons this afternoon.

Mr Eastwood said that a liar and a cheat who acts unlawfully cannot be allowed to hold high office.

Said the Foyle MLA: “Boris Johnson has been found to have acted unlawfully.

“He sought to silence his critics and suspend democratic scrutiny of his government. He cannot be in office a second longer.

“Opposition parties must move immediately to table a vote of no confidence against the British Government and stop Boris Johnson.

“If the DUP has any sense of what is right, they will withdraw their support for Johnson as well.

“A vote of no confidence will make way for a temporary administration at Westminster that can stop no deal, protect our economy and at last put the power back to the people in a general election.

“This has gone on too long.

“Opposition leaders need to take on the Tories and take out Boris Johnston.

“Ireland’s interests are on the line at Westminster, there is a fight to be had and this is no time to be standing on the sidelines.

“There’s no time to waste – respect the court, take a stand and send the Prime Minister packing,” added Mr Eastwood.
