Durkan welcomes Temple Road pedestrian safety measures

THE SDLP’s Mark H Durkan has welcomed the commencement of work to widen the footpath along the Temple Road.

Said the Foyle MLA: “I am delighted that work has finally commenced to widen the footpath on this busy rural road.

“I first raised this issue a few years ago but DfI’s efforts to get the work done have been delayed as they attempted to resolve some land ownership matters.

“I commend them for sticking to the task.

“The improvements will greatly improve safety for the many pedestrians and runners who already use this route as well as opening it up for other families for whom it was just too dangerous to take their children the short walk from Strathfoyle down to enjoy the scenic Enagh Lough.

“Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the work and motorists are advised to expect short delays when travelling on the Temple Road.”
