Sinn Fein Health spokesperson Sandra Duffy

SINN Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy has said those affected by the neurology patient recall are entitled to access to information and truth about what happened.

The party’s health spokesperson said: “Reports that a hearing into the actions of the consultant involved in the neurology patient recall, Dr Michael Watt, will not take place until next year will cause great concerns among the patients involved and their families.

“The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing had been due to take place in in June but may not happen until 2020.

“Those involved and their families have repeatedly spoken of their frustration at not being kept up to date with information, often feeling they are the last to know.

“All of those affected are entitled to information and truth and the Department of Health must ensure they are kept up to date at all stages.”
