Appeal after attempted break-ins at Bogside homes – Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has urged residents in the Bogside area to be on the alert following a number of attempted break-ins in the past week.

Councillor Logue said “I would urge everyone in the area to be vigilant following a number of attempted break-ins of homes over the past week.

“The thieves attempted to gain access by trying the front and back doors of several homes.

“Thankfully the thieves were put off by people being in the vicinity at the time and they ran off.

“But it only takes seconds for them to be successful to gain access if they find an unlocked door or an open window at ground floor level.

“I would appeal to residents if they are leaving their home for even a short space of time that they always lock their windows and doors, back gates and if they have any valuable garden tools and machinery that they are securely locked up at night”

“If you see suspicious activity around a neighbour’s house, particularly if there is no one at home, alert other neighbours and call the police as often there is a pattern to this type of criminality.”
