SINN Féin’s Karen Mullan has encouraged people in the Western Trust Area to take part in a Public Consultation into Reshaping Breast Assessment Services.

The Foyle MLA was speaking after attending a meeting organised by the Pink Ladies Cancer Support Group on reshaping breast services.

Karen Mullan said: “It’s proposed that breast assessment services will remain at Altnagelvin, but it’s important that people play a part in re-shaping the service.

“It’s vital that our facilities are properly resourced and receive the investment required to deliver a first class service.

“The Department of Health need to hear directly from patients exactly how the service is performing and importantly, how it can be improved.

“I have heard concerns from service users on what proposed changes could mean for them and the need for more investment at the breast unit.

“I would encourage people to take part in the consultation – for help and advice the Pink Ladies can be contacted at: [email protected] or 0771 002 5494.”
