Latest resignation shows extent of Brexit chaos – McCallion

SINN Féin’s Elisha McCallion has said the resignation of the British’s government’s official in charge of dealing with planning for the border post-Brexit shows the level of chaos in the British system.

The Foyle MP said: “The resignation of Karen Wheeler as the British government’s leading official dealing with Brexit and the border shows once again the chaos in the British government over Brexit.

“It is the latest in a litany of resignations from the British government as a result of this disastrous policy.

“It is long past the time the British government realises that the Withdrawal Agreement and the backstop it contains in order to prevent a hard border on the island of Ireland is the only deal on the table.

“It is time it is implemented to end the chaos and uncertainty in border communities.”
