Searches at Saoradh’s Derry head office in Junior McDaid House

A policing operation is taking place at the offices of Saoradh in Derry.

A number of police land rovers are parked near the entrance of Junior McDaid House at Chamberlain Street in the city.

The group, which is believed to be the political wing of the New IRA, had been ordered to leave its Derry office following the murder of journalist Lyra Mckee.

Saoradh, which has the support of the New IRA and has claimed responsibility for the killing of the 29-year-old, has been issued with an eviction notice from Junior McDaid House.

Within days of the killing friends of Ms McKee defaced Junior McDaid House by putting handprints on the building’s walls in red paint.

Friends of murdered Lyra McKee put red hands on Saoradh offices in Derry on Easter Monday. Watching on is convicted terrorist Thomas Ashe Mellon (bearded)
