DERRY City and Strabane District Council and the North West Regional College are inviting local employers and anyone hoping to pursue a career in the hospitality and tourism industry to get involved in a special vacancies event planned for the Guildhall.

The Hospitality and Tourism Jobs Event will take place on Wednesday March 13th from 4pm to 7pm and a number of established local employers have already signed up offering full time, part time, permanent, casual, events and summer positions.

Skills Manager at Derry City and Strabane District Council, Tina Gillespie, said the event was an ideal opportunity for employers to prepare for the industry’s busy spring and summer period by connecting directly with prospective employees.

“The Hospitality and Tourism Jobs Event at the Guildhall will allow local employers to begin the recruitment process for the sector’s busiest period of the year by connecting with prospective employees and allowing them to learn more about what positions are available,” she said.

“A number of established hospitality specialists have already confirmed their attendance and are recruiting for exciting opportunities including Sodexo who provide the catering for the British Open Golf Championship in Royal Portrush and are seeking to build a large team for the event.

“A wide range of vacancies that will be available on the day including Assistant Cook, Bar Attendant, Barista, Catering Assistant, Chef, Cook, Customer Advisors, Guest Service Assistant, Housekeeping, Kitchen Assistant, Logistics, Reservation Agent and Waiting Staff.”
