Gemma McGuinness in line for Northern Ireland appearance at Turkish Cup

Donegal woman Gemma McGuinness has been named on the Northern Ireland Women’s squad for this week’s Turkish Cup.

The Greencastle native, who plays for Derry City, is included on a 22-player squad named by manager Alfie Wylie.

The Northern Ireland team kick off their Turkish Women’s Cup campaign at the Gold City Hotel on Wednesday afternoon against Jordan (kick-off 12.30pm).

On Friday, they take on France ‘B’ (kick-off 2.30pm) followed by their final game two days later on Sunday against Kazakhstan (kick-off 12.30pm).

McGuinness previously played at underage level with the Republic of Ireland, turning out up to Under-19 level.

The Candystripes attacker is one of a 11 Irish League players included in the NI squad for this week’s tournament.
