NORTH West Regional College has unveiled a number of innovative new courses at its campus in Limavady, designed to allow Further Education students to progress into careers in the Emergency Services, and Sport.

From September 2019 the college, which has two campuses in Main Street and Greystone, will offer the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (equivalent to three A Levels) in Public Services, Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Development with IFA Football Coaching Academy, and Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport Development Outdoor Pathway.

In addition, the college also has a combined Business & IT Course & new Medical Science Course starting in September.

The Level 3 Diploma in Public Services (two year course), is of particular interest to students wishing to pursue a career in the Police, Fire, Ambulance or Security Services, as well as the Armed Services, HM Customs and Excise and other emergency related organisations.

The Level 3 Sports courses are ideal for students wanting to develop their knowledge of the sports industry and are keen to pursue a career in Sports Coaching or PE Teaching.

Luke McCloskey, Campus Manager of NWRC Limavady said: “The college was delighted to welcome representatives from the Public Services and the Irish Football Association for the launch of these new courses.

“As we approach the College’s Open day on February 28th at Limavady campus we are conscious of the decisions that young people are now making about their futures.

“Our new courses are aligned to the needs of the strategic objectives of the Borough reflecting the interest and demand from prospective local learners.

“There are many options available to students at Limavady campus in a range of subjects from Art and Design, Adult Learning, Apprenticeships and Training, Business, Care and Health, Hospitality, Early Years, Media, Computing and I.T., Built Environment, Engineering, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Science and Sport, and we are delighted to be able to add these new courses to the wide range of vocational subjects and Higher Education courses we already deliver.

“We look forward to later this year announcing details of new courses in our Part Time prospectus.

“I would welcome students and their parents to come to our campuses on Main Street and in Greystone on Thursday February 28, from 12 to 8 p.m. when they will have the opportunity to meet the staff, find out more information, and have a tour of the facilities.”
