Strategic Growth Partnership meeting to be held in The Guildhall

A SPECIAL meeting of the Strategic Growth Partnership for Derry and Strabane will take place later this month to update the public and members on progress in delivering a number of key strategies for the City and District.

The partnership is tasked with overseeing the delivery of the Strategic Growth Plan and is made up of representatives from local business, community and voluntary organisations and statutory agencies, as well as Derry City and Strabane District Council.

The meeting is open to the public and will take place at 11.30am in the Guildhall Council Chamber on Thursday February 28th.

At the meeting partners will receive an update on the work to date on some of the key strategic areas highlighted within the growth plan.

There will be the opportunity to hear more about some of the central themes and how they are being addressed and progress monitored, including the work of the Education and Skills Outcome Delivery Partnership, the Green Infrastructure Plan and the Year of Youth Programme, which aims to enhance the lives of our Children and Young People.

An update will also be provided on the eight Local Strategic Growth Plans, which are now at an advanced stage of development, and the ongoing work on the Carnegie Embedding Wellbeing in Northern Ireland Project.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor John Boyle, said: “The Strategic Growth Partnership Meetings offer the chance for people to find out more about the progress being made on the Strategic Growth Plan.

“Community Planning is a collaborative process and at this critical time when we are faced with the uncertainties of Brexit and the ongoing stasis in the political process, it is all the more important that at a local level we present a strong and unified front with the support of all our partners and stakeholders.

“I look forward to the opportunity to reflect on the positive work to date which demonstrates the strong commitment we have made to achieving positive change for Derry and Strabane despite the challenges.”

To find out more about the Strategic Growth Plan for Derry and Strabane and how it will be rolled out, a new website is now available with regular updates on progress and the public can get in touch with the Community Planning team directly on growderrystrabane.com
