Authorities in Donegal are conducting an extensive search for missing Derry pensioner Jean McFahey after her car was located this morning.

Police have confirmed that the red Ford Fiesta in which Ms McGahey was travelling has been found on the beach in Buncrana, close to the Buncrana Pier.

Gardaí, with the assistance of the Lough Swilly RNLI, are carrying out an extensive search of the area.

The public appeal continues for information on Ms McGahey’s whereabouts.

The 72-year-old woman was last seen at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon in the Drummard Park area of Derry city.

The PSNI believe that she then travelled across the border into Inishowen.
