SINN Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has congratulated the North West Regional College (NWRC) on securing Erasmus Plus funding award.

The Party’s Further and Higher Education Spokesperson said: “I’d like to congratulate NWRC on successfully securing almost €1.26 million of Erasmus Plus funding.

“This is the highest funding award of Erasmus Plus secured by a college in the north to date.

“Erasmus Plus programmes provide students and staff the opportunity to undertake learning or professional opportunities in other EU states.

“The funding secured by NWRC will allow staff and students to participate in mobility opportunities of between two weeks and 12 months in a range of study areas including IT, hospitality and creative industries across the EU.

“As well as a valuable learning or training experience, Erasmus Plus provides social and cultural experiences and allows for the development of partnerships and collaborations with other institutions and professionals.

“As the Brexit negotiations are coming to a head, it is important to highlight the many benefits of EU funding and programmes like this, and the need to secure an outcome which allows for special status for the north to continue to participate in these.”
