Man in custody at Strand Road after he was caught with two knives in Derry

A MAN is spending the weekend in the custody suite at Strand Road Police Station before appearing in court on Monday for a number of offences.

PSNI Foyle say: “On Friday, September 28, at around 5:45pm, police responded to a 999 call to Osbourne Street to a number of reports of an ongoing disturbance regarding a male in possession of two knives.

“The male was located and arrested by police a short time later.

“This male has been charged tonight and will be held to the next court for a number of offences including burglary, common assault, possession of an offensive weapon and driving a motor vehicle without insurance.

“A moped was also seized by police.

“This is another example of great team work between the concerned members of the public who called us; to the efforts on the ground by Local Policing Team 3 and the Foyleside & Moor Neighbourhood team; to the Volume Crime Support Team, this male is now spending his weekend with Hotel Strand Road’s custody team.”
