Laura Szewc who was tragically killed in single vehicle crash near Derry/Donegal border on Wednesday night

RELATIVES and friends of a teenage girl tragically killed in a late night crash close to the Derry/Donegal border have been left “devastated” over her death.

Laura Szewc died in the accident close to Nixon’s Corner on the Letterkenny Road at 11.30 pm on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old, a student at North West Regional College, was born in Poland but raised in Derry.

Laura, from the Cornshell Fields who was also working at the Travel Lodge Hotel, had been a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa which is believed to have hit a tree.

Two of her friends who were in the car were taken to Altnagelvin hospital for treatment for their injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and police have launched an appeal for witnesses.

Her friends have taken to her Facebook page to leave poignant messages to the former St Brigid’s College pupil they called “amazing”.

Shauna McConnell posted: “Absolutely heart broken thinking about you! Such a pretty little face gone too soon.

“Such a lucky girl to have had you as a bestfriend for so long! I’ll forever cherish all our memories love and miss you alot❤️❤️❤️”

Christine Boyle wrote: “Heart is actually in agony, I just don’t know what to say.

!I’ll treasure our memory’s forever. One thing I’ll always regret is not making more with you💔 forever my little princess love you more than you’ll ever know💖”

Edward Karran posted: “Rest in peace Laura, taken far far too young, genuinely heartbreaking.”
