Sinn Fein councillor Eric McGinley

DERRY Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has called for calm and restraint following the vandalism of a house in Ballymagroarty.

It is believed to be a row between members of the travelling community in the city.

Cllr. McGinley said: “It is my understanding that a dispute within the Travelling community led to last night’s vandalism which was carried out on a vacant house in Ballymagroarty.

“I would appeal to those involved to resolve their differences and refrain from a repeat of this type of aggression.

“This only serves to create a negative picture of the neighbourhood,” he added.
