Derry City v Dundalk: We’re struggling a bit, admit Shiels ahead of game

THE mid-season break certainly isn’t coming too early for Kenny Shiels as the City boss prepares for the arrival of in-form Dundalk to Brandywell on this evening, Friday, June 15 (kick off 7.45 pm).

Last weekend’s win at Dalymount ended a difficult time of things for the Candystripes but they will have their work cut out against Stephen Kenny’s high-flying side as the clubs head into the short respite.

Midfielder Nicky Low is suspended for the game while Jamie McDonagh and Gavin Peers are injury concerns for Shiels.

“We’re struggling a bit to be honest” he began.

“We’ve lost Ronan Curtis and Nicky’s suspension is a real blow on top of that. Gavin and Jamie are both very doubtful so while things aren’t great we have to stay focused.”

“Dundalk are a quality side- everybody knows that so we will have to dig deep and fight hard to keep them out.”

Shiels admitted that he hopes to announce as many as four new signings over the next couple of weeks as he breathes new life into a side battling hard for that precious European spot.

Tickets are available from the usual outlets and online.
