SINN Féin Education spokesperson Karen Mullan MLA has encouraged local secondary school students to start preparing for next year’s BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE), which will take place from 9 – 12 January 2019 at the RDS in Dublin.
Supporting BT’s call for more schools to take part, the Foyle MLA said:
“The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition provides a wonderful opportunity for young people to showcase their talents across a range of STEM subject areas.
“It allows participants to develop their creativity, problem solving and team working skills – key qualities which are highly sought after by employers.
“2019 will be the 55th year of the exhibition and the theme is ‘It Starts Here,’ highlighting the important role BTYSTE plays in inspiring students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and promoting the innovators, scientists and technologists of the future.
“With the summer holiday fast approaching, I would encourage students to start coming up with ideas now and begin developing their STEM project in time to meet the deadline for entries in September.”
