Suspect breaks for the border as cops probe ‘fake police’ car

POLICE on both sides of the Derry/Donegal border are hunting the driver of this ‘fake police’ car.

The driver of the black VW Golf car (similar to one picture above right) was spotted by PSNI Foyle officers trying to pull over a vehicle in the city using flashing lights.

But when the real cops tried to intervene, the VW made a break for the border and avoided capture by Gardai in Donegal who had been alerted by its counterparts in the North.

PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook apge: “What’s going on here . . .you’re not a Cop!’

“That was our thought when Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team ‍♂ saw a Black VW Golf, registration KR51FHA, on the Buncrana Road at 1:20 am this morning.

“What made us suspicious  was the fact that it had flashing lights showing and was in the process of trying to pull a car  over

“I’m sure the suspect got the shock of his life when the REAL Police  tried to pull him over.

“He failed to stop for us and then fled over the border where he also failed to stop for the Garda.

“If anyone knows anything about this car and who was driving drop us a PM or ring 101 and quote reference number 140 of 13/05/18 #FakeCops#WeTheRealDeal #KeepingPeopleSave
