Police warning over bogus HMRC telephone tax scam in Derry

POLICE in Derry say they have been receiving “lots of Private Messages” from people who have been receiving ‘HMRC’ calls.

Some people have received calls from scammers using the number 02038236368.

The PSNI’s advice is simple: “DO NOT GIVE OUT BANK DETAILS

“Some are saying they owe money  and are threatened with Arrest to pay.

“Others are being told they are due a big windfall of cash and are asked for details so they can receive this mystery money

“Ignore this!

“If you have a HMRC issue they will have contacted you formally by post and even then I would be contacting them directly to verify everything and EVEN THEN I wouldn’t be giving bank details over the phone unless I was 100%.

“Let’s have no victims tonight! Ignore these Clowns  #KeepingPeopleSafe #HangUp”
