SINN Féin Health spokesperson Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed the launch of the consultation on a new Looked After Children Strategy by the Departments of Health and Education.

She said: “I welcome this consultation on the new Looked After Children strategy from the departments of health and education.

“Looked after children are some of the most vulnerable in society and they experience poorer health, social, educational, and employment outcomes than other children.

“As Minister for Health Michelle O’Neill prioritised the tackling of health inequalities and committed in her Delivering Together transformation plan to improving support for children in care.

“Sinn Féin will submit a response to the consultation before the closing date on July 4th and I encourage others to give their views too.

“It is particularly important the voices of children in care and those advocating on their behalf are heard during this process.”
