http://www.derrydaily.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/foylesearchand-rescue.jpgFOYLE Search and Rescue along with the police helped to talk a distressed person down from railings at the River Foyle yesterday evening.

“At 5:30 pm on Saturday, April 21, Foyle Search and Rescue responded to reports of a person in close proximity to the railings reported as appearing in distress,” FSR say on its Facebook page.

“Two FSR mobile units who were in the vicinity responded arriving on scene with the PSNI within minutes.

“The person was then spoken to and removed from the area.

“Members of the public passing in vehicles observed this taking place and comments on social media imply that someone had entered the river.

“We would like to reassure the public that thankfully this was not the case and the person concerned is safe and well.”
