DERRY City’s winning streak rolls on.

The Candy Stripes are now up to third in the Premier Division after a 3-1 victory against 10-man Bohemians this evenig (kicke off 7.45 om)

Aaron McEneff, Rory Patterson and Nicky Low scored as the Candystripes extended their seven-match winning streak.

Dylan Watts cancelled out McEneff’s opener but the visitors then had Paddy Kavanagh sent off in the 55th minute.

Derry’s elevation to third was helped by a 1-0 win by St Patrick’s Athletic over Waterford FC.

Patterson regained the lead for Derry shortly afterwards before Low scored his first goal for the club in injury time to seal a deserved win.

The hosts made a bright start to the game with Ronan Hale forcing a couple of early corners but the midfielder was unable to put his side ahead in the 19th minute when Bohs’ goalkeeper Shane Supple was quick off his line.

Derry broke the deadlock just moments later when McEneff beat Supple with a powerful, low strike.

Bohemians were level within minutes as Watts raced onto a ball over the top before clipping his finish past the onrushing Gerard Doherty.

The visitors could have taken the lead before half time but Dinny Corcoran’s weak effort was comfortably saved by Doherty.

Derry had a strong wind at their backs for the second half and they were given another advantage in the 55th minute when Kavanagh was shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Ronan Curtis.

Kenny Shiels’ side immediately regained the lead as Supple made an excellent save from Ronan Hale’s initial effort but was powerless to prevent Patterson from firing home the rebound.

Curtis saw his powerful shot cleared off the line and Supple was forced into another good save as Derry sought to press home their advantage and the pressure finally told in injury time when Low rounded the goalkeeper to score his first goal for the Candystripes.

The win, coupled with Waterford’s defeat by St Patrick’s Athletic, means Derry are up to third place on goal difference ahead of their visit to leaders Dundalk on Friday.
