POLICE have seized a vehicle in Derry on suspicion this Ford Mondeo saloon car was running on illegal red diesel.
It is a criminal offence to run roadworthy vehicles on red diesel which can only be used for off-road vehicles.
PSNI Foyle say: “Tactical Support Group were driving past the filling station on Racecourse Road, Foyle when they observed the driver of this vehicle filling up using red diesel.
The car was seized under Section 139 Customs Management Act.
“It was taken to a secure location to await HMRC to dip the vehicle and prosecute the driver.”
