SINN Fein councillor Mickey Cooper has appealed for the public for anyone with information about a shop robbery to give it to police.

A shop was held up on Saturday night on the Culmore Road by a man armed with a knife.

A 25-year-old man was later arrested by Gardai in Donegal.

Said Cllr Cooper: “Firstly my thoughts are with  everyone caught up in this frightening incident.

“There is only so much the owners of such premises can do to protect staff and their businesses against these criminals preying on our communities.

“I would urge anyone with information on this incident to contact the police,” he added.
