THE owner of this blue Audi 4 estate will soon be facing Derry Magistrates’ Court after he did a runner from police in the city this week.

Police say he will be facing a number of motoring offences in relation to the car.

PSNI Foyle reported the incident on its Facebook page under the heading of ‘Petrol head forgets vehicle and Subway meal!!’

An officer wrote: “Recently Ballyarnett Npt 🚔 were conducting unrelated enquiries at the Whitehouse Retail Park in our inconspicuous liveried 🚓 Shogun Vehicle.

“As one officer was inside Nisa Store the other was as diligent as always noting a suspious male approach from the direction of Subway Cafe. 🍽

“A short time later he 😎 walks back towards Subway looking back at police throughout.

“Soon he 😓 realises, Yes it is my local neighbourhood officer. Suddenly he puts a phone 📞 to his ear, does an about-turn and starts walking towards the city.

“Police then observe a dodgy Navy Audi 🚘outside Subway. Suspecting the two are linked police get out and shout over to Dom Joly “what about your Audi”.

“He looks back but continues on with the phone stuck to his hear👂.

“Having only one officer and knowing the identity of the male police decide to carry out further checks with the vehicle. It is locked and secured with a fresh foot long 👅 Subway meal inside.

“Even though the windscreen sticker states Flawless we suspect this is not quite the case.

“No one returns to collect the car or the lunch so CCTV 🎥 is checked and as thought Dom drove and abandoned the vehicle at its current location.

“The vehicle was seized and Dom has since been informed he will be reported ✒ for a number of motoring offences.

“We decided to have Subway 🌮 for lunch while waiting on the recovery truck.”
