DUP’s ‘scorched earth’ comments pathetic – McCallion

SINN Féin’s Elisha McCallion has described as pathetic comments made by the DUP’s Simon Hamilton in Westminster.

He made the remarks during a session of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee in London on Wednesday.

The Sinn Fein Foyle MP said: “Simon Hamilton’s attack on Sinn Féin MPs ignores the fact that Sinn Féin MPs do not draw a salary despite providing full time representation and a constituency service.

“This is a clear attempt at deflection by the DUP after their decision to collapse talks aimed at restoring the political institutions..

“The only ‘scorched earth’ policy citizens will recognise is the DUP’s flat-earth approach to basic civil and human rights, and the wanton disregard their Brexit border ambitions have for the Good Friday Agreement and people’s livelihoods.”
